What is GMAC Executive Assessment?

The Executive Assessment is specifically designed by GMAC to evaluate the business school readiness of seasoned professionals and since it is designed for busy professionals, the assessment includes just three short 30-minute sections with a total of 40 questions.


The assessment focuses on the skills that are critical both at work and in an EMBA program:

  • higher order reasoning,
  • critical thinking,
  • analysis, and
  • problem-solving.

Break up of the sections is as follows:

  • Integrated Reasoning- 12 Questions (30 Mins)
  • Verbal Reasoning- 14 Questions (30 Mins)
    • 2 Sections of 7 Qs each
    • Questions within sections can be reviewed
    • Questions within sections are not adaptive
    • Includes 1 RC, 6 SC and 4 CR questions
  • Quant Reasoning- 14 Questions (30 Mins)
    • 2 Sections of 7 Qs each
    • Questions within sections can be reviewed
    • Questions within sections are not adaptive
    • Includes 8 PS and 6 DS questions.

(There is no scheduled break in between the sections)

GMAC has done away with lot of topics in Quant that required remembering the formulas like Geometry, Coordinate Geometry, Exponents, Permutation and Combinations, Probability, Progressions, etc.

What is the executive assessment used for?

The assessment is used to fulfill business school application requirements and evaluate business school readiness.

Why do I need to take the  executive assessment?

It may be required by your school as part of the application process.  It will help you identify what skills you most need to strengthen to be confident in your readiness for business school.

How will the assessment impact my entry into an EMBA program?

Most schools will use the executive assessment to evaluate readiness. Schools may also use it to determine next steps in helping a candidate succeed in the program.

What are the benefits of taking the assessment?

The assessment will help you assess what skills you need to sharpen to do well in your business school program.

Where and when can I take the assessment?

The assessment is delivered year-round in more than 600 Pearson VUE test centers around the world.

How much does it cost to take the assessment?

The cost to take the executive assessment is US $350 globally.

How long are executive assessment results valid?

Results are valid for five (5) years and available for reporting for up to 10 years. Results more than 10 years old are not available.

Can I cancel my results?

No. Currently there is no option available to cancel the score.

Does the Executive Assessment use computer adaptive testing?

The assessment uses multi-stage adaptive design, which is similar to computer adaptive testing. Like computer adaptive testing, questions are interactively selected based on your previous answer, but rather than selecting individual questions at a time, groups of questions are selected, building a test that is most relevant to each individual's performance level.

What does the Executive Assessment measure?

All three sections of the assessment measure higher-order reasoning skills. "Higher-order" reasoning skills involve complex judgments and include critical thinking, analysis, and problem solving.

How do I schedule an assessment?

 To schedule an assessment, you will first need to create an account and provide basic personal information. You will also be required to review and agree to the Executive Assessment Policies and Procedures, which includes rules, terms, conditions, and our privacy statement.After creating a GMAC account, if you are authorized to take the Executive Assessment, Pearson VUE,  you will receive an email with the subject line "Schedule Your Executive Assessment Appointment" and an email including your initial login credentials. Click on the link in the email and log into the scheduling site to schedule and pay for your assessment.

What if I need to reschedule my assessment?

You may reschedule your assessment any time up to 24 hours before your scheduled assessment.

To reschedule your assessment by phone, call the number for your region listed on the site. There will be a USD $10 surcharge for rescheduling by phone. Reschedules are not allowed less than 24 hours before your scheduled assessment. If you need to reschedule less than 24 hours before your scheduled assessment, you will forfeit your assessment fee and will need to schedule and pay for a new assessment.

What if I need to cancel my assessment?

You may cancel your scheduled assessment at any time up to 24 hours before your scheduled appointment, however a USD $100 cancellation fee will apply.

Am I allowed to use a calculator during my assessment?

You are not allowed to bring your own calculator or any other personal items into the testing room. You will be provided with a locker for your personal belongings. A calculator will be available to use during the Integrated Reasoning section only. You will be provided with a note board and marker to work out your calculations on the Quantitative Reasoning section.

Will there by any breaks provided?

No breaks will be provided during the assessment. It is a 90 minute test.

What if I need an unscheduled break?

If there is an emergency, raise you hand to get the administrator's attention. The administrator will set your workstation to break mode and you may leave the testing room. The assessment time will NOT stop during your unscheduled break. 

What is the format of my results?

 You will receive results for each section of the assessment: Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning, and a Total result, which is derived   from your results on the three sections.

Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Verbal Reasoning use a scale of 0 to 20. The total scale ranges from 100 to 200.

 

What schools accept Executive Assessment results?

Currently six graduate management schools around the world use the Executive Assessment results as part of their application process. These schools are:

  1. INSEAD
  2. CEIBS
  3. London Business School
  4. University of Hong Kong,
  5. Columbia University,
  6. and University of Chicago- Booth School of Business

How many times can I take the Executive Assessment?

GMAC Executive Assessment can be taken only twice in lifetime so you should use the attempts wisely.

How soon can I take the assessment after registering?

Twenty-four (24) hours after finishing your registration.

How long do I have to wait before registering to take the assessment again?

Twenty-four (24) hours after completing your first attempt.

Will I be able to see the results of my assessment?

Results will be presented on your screen at the end of the assessment. You will receive a printout of your results to take with you upon departing the test center.
